Where it all started. Our own house above Camps Bay, a minimalist villa where every room frames one of Cape Town's icons: Lion's Head, Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles, the Atlantic. It is not a hotel and not run by an agency. Two full-time staff look after it every day, the power stays on when the grid does not, and the fibre holds.
Four bedrooms in the house and a fifth in Little Rock at the top of the garden. Five bathrooms in concrete, oak and aged brass. Two kitchens and two living areas, each with its own entrance, so a family or two couples can share the house without ever getting in each other's way. Four desks for the weeks when Cape Town is the office.
The granite boulders and the old stone pines were on this plot long before the house, and the house was drawn around them rather than through them. Glass walls fold away onto the garden, there is shade at two in the afternoon in February, and the lawn is flat enough for children.
Two pools, one in the shade by the lawn and one in the sun on the terrace. Three terraces, the highest of them on the roof, with nothing at all between you and the horizon. That is where the day ends.
What you get
The detail
At the highest point of the property, shaped around a massive granite boulder and the trees that were already standing there, is the first tiny house ever built in Camps Bay. The boulder comes through the glass and becomes part of the room, and the roof is a single concrete slab floating over a box of glass, weathered steel and oak.
The bed sits on a podium facing the panorama window, with Lion's Head in it. A desk with the ocean in front of it, and a bathroom of raw concrete and terrazzo. It works as the fifth bedroom, as a study for whoever has to work, or as the place two of the party disappear to for a night. Its own entrance, and its own silence.
Lions Rock sits on the slope above Camps Bay, with Lion's Head behind it and the Twelve Apostles running south. The beach and the restaurants on the strip are a ten-minute walk downhill. Clifton's beaches are seven minutes by car, the start of the Lion's Head trail five. The city, the Waterfront and the wine farms are all within half an hour, and so is the airport.

The property is walled and gated, with an alarm, cameras, armed response and panic buttons in the bedrooms. Backup power keeps the lights on when the city goes dark. Sleep with the doors open: someone is always awake.
Every photograph
Rates are for the whole property, Lions Rock and Little Rock together, and are starting points, not a price list. Final cleaning, the two full-time staff and the airport pickup are included. A refundable deposit of € 1 000 is taken per stay. Send your dates and we come back with a quote. Productions are quoted separately.

None of this is part of the rate. Tell us what you need when you send your dates, or in the middle of your stay, and we come back with what it costs.
Car and driver
The Range Rover, beyond the airport run. A day on the wine farms, dinner in town, the drive back up at midnight.
Massage at the house
A small team of therapists comes to the house. Two treatments at the same time, on the terrace or in your room.
A chef for the evening
For a birthday, a first night, or the evening nobody wants to go out. He shops, cooks in your kitchen and clears up.
A full fridge
Send us a list and Charlie and Lulu do the shopping, so the first evening does not start at the supermarket.

Sea Point and GardensLions Rock is our own house, so we want to know who is coming. Send your dates, how many of you there are and what brings you to Cape Town. We answer every enquiry ourselves, usually the same day, and we tell you straight away if the dates are gone.
